My truck currently has right at 50k miles on it so I probably need ot do this, but my question is this seems awfully short length of time for plugs, is this correct? Just curious why it is only 30k miles between changes. If this sounds like something you'd like to participate in, register and become a Dodge Ram Owners Club Member Today! Heat soak is more likely after a longer shutdown rather than a few minuets or an hour or so, during the former little heat is rejected as opposed to a longer period when the heat is rejected to the atmosphere (cant think of another word)... On my '01 Pontiac 3.8lt I do it earlier than recommend, but I usually use NKG Platinum tipped, yes they cost more but compared to the car their cheap..

Insert the nipple firmly into the tower on the cap or the coil.A little smear of dielectric grease inside the boots of the spark plug wires will prevent corrosion, and aid in boot removal the next time the plugs are serviced. Replace any wire which shows excessive resistance. It should be remembered that resistance is also a function of length; the longer the wire the greater the resistance

Spark plugs have been replaced but from time to time the check engine light comes on and after two days or so goes away but it comes back in a week or so. So I would have those parts serviced, inspected, or replaced before assuming it is an ignition problem. If this car has more than 100,000 miles on it; the oxygen sensors should be replaced

Unless things were very different way back when the plugs were installed in yours, recommended plugs have four ground electrodes surrounding the center. So unless you have some special tool which I can't even imagine (which the maker surely has at the plant), there's just no way you're ever gonna get them regapped

On ever 1500 I've worked on you have to remove the seat to get at the two acorn nut that hold the back end of the unit down, there are also two levers inside the gas filler door that have to be moved forward to release the unit from the bike. I know of at least three bikes that have leaked gas because of this, simply sanding the edge off solved the problem From the Northwest Corner Ron Last edited by Ron Robertson; 12-31-2010 at 08:19 PM

Just like the recomendation by Honda back in the day! Just like some oil's allow for a change every 10,000-15,000 miles?? B.S.!! Oil is oil and no matter how protective an oil is it's gonna get filthy and thin! Same principle with spark plugs with alot of miles on em'... As mentioned in another post, I do agree that it's good practice to break them loose to prevent them from seizing onto the head, however you shouldn't have to replace them esp

What can I do to prevent this in the future? If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administrator to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices

I also use 93 Octane fuel which makes my truck much more responsive, stays in the powerband longer, and gets rid of that 1st gear stubbling thing that happens with 87. Here's an excerpt: Quote: Based on the results we've got here, we'd recommend 8,000 miles between oil changes on an engine that uses no oil at all, perhaps 10,000 miles on an engine that uses some oil, and 15,000 miles or beyond with a filter change every 5,000 miles

At that point, its really impossible to say when the problem began, because it certainly did not start after your last scheduled oil change, it only became apparent. Shorter and shorter intervals to monitor the condition of the motor at the onset of higher mileage and to help keep fresh plugs in as the engine begins to use them up faster
