Its fairly similar and even the control scheme is the same (I had to change the accelerate to R2 because X isnt the right button for that for racing games anymore and feels odd) there is new things added (or at least from me who didnt played 4) such as nascar and kart (there might be drifting I havent went that far) I still dont feel like there are a lot of cars unless you unlock them trough time at the section to buy cars
If you skip over the races you do not have cars for, somewhere down the road you will almost always come across a new prize car that you can use in the races you have skipped over
