May 19, 2015 7th Workshop on Risk Informed Regulation and Safety Culture The 7th Workshop on Risk Informed Regulation and Safety Culture was one of a series of workshops designed by the Office of Nuclear Energy in concert with experts from the Idaho National Laboratory to assist China in developing a comprehensive, successful and efficient Risk-Informed Regulatory framework
Status of World Nuclear Forces - Federation Of American Scientists
Despite significant reductions in US, Russian, French and British nuclear forces compared with Cold War levels, all the nuclear weapon states continue to modernize their remaining nuclear forces and appear committed to retaining nuclear weapons for the indefinite future. The information available for each country varies greatly, ranging from the most transparent nuclear weapons state (United States) to the most opaque (North Korea)
Nuclear Information and Resource Service - NIRS
Video from NIRS, Friends of the Earth, Public Citizen, Greenpeace and Sierra Club on our possible energy futures: one reliant on dirty, dangerous nuclear power and fossil fuels and the other on a clean, safe, and affordable nuclear-free, carbon-free energy system based on renewables. Now it's your turn to lobby: tell the EPA to keep support for nuclear power out of the Clean Power Plan! Pope Francis' Encyclical on climate includes several passages highly skeptical of nuclear power as a technology, and thus as a climate solution

It shows that the average total dose from the Three Mile Island disaster for someone living within 10 miles of the plant was one 625th of the maximum yearly amount permitted for US radiation workers. Like others, I have called for renewable power to be used both to replace the electricity produced by fossil fuel and to expand the total supply, displacing the oil used for transport and the gas used for heating fuel
+ More Build It And They Will Come When you ask executives why they do business in East Tennessee, access to affordable electricity is one of the reasons why. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the next two years, the Nuclear Energy Institute has been working with the agency to address generic regulatory issues for these types of reactors
ROSSEN: It was March 1979 , a partial core meltdown at Three Mile Island that shut the plant down and sent radioactive gas into the air; all of it just a stone's throw from Joan and Kenneth 's house. Besides the proximity, severity and frequency of earthquakes, the new estimates take into account the design standards used at each plant, along with the type of rock or soil it's built on
Yukio Edano named these locations: Katsuo, Kawamata, Namie, Iitate, and Minami Soma, most of which are inside the zone already ordered to evacuate or take shelter. The radioactive plume that emanated from the reactor contained not only volatile radioactive nuclides (such as Iodine-131, Cesium-137) which have been observed around Fukushima, but also many non-volatile ones, which were in the disintegrated fuel pieces
The Future of Nuclear Power
Other options include increased efficiency, renewables, and carbon sequestration, and all may be needed for a successful greenhouse gas management strategy. The authors of the study emphasized that nuclear power is not the only non-carbon option and stated that they believe it should be pursued as a long term option along with other options such as the use of renewable energy sources, increased efficiency, and carbon sequestration.

SNPTC said the deal also included measures "to develop cooperation in the field of overseas markets." Another agreement was signed with China Baotou Nuclear Fuel Co "to design, manufacture and install fuel fabrication equipment that will enable China to manufacture fuel" for AP1000 units. (It is possible that these commercial HTR plants will have larger turbines.) Then in April 2015 CNEC announced that its proposal for two commercial 600 MWe HTRs at Ruijin city in Jiangxi province had passed an initial feasibility review
