The follow-on question I have is should the snapshot control file name be the same in RMAN on all nodes? For example, assume a three node system with nodes N1, N2, and N3 and a shared ASM drive, +DATA. Try to restart your server, the Oracle HAS (High Availability Service) component will start the asm , database, and listener automatically for you in that server

Using Oracle Enterprise Manager to Administer Forms Services

Warning: If you do not restart Enterprise Manager after manually editing any of the configuration files, changes that you make through Enterprise Manager overwrite the manual changes that you made. Using Oracle Diagnostic Logging (ODL) Oracle Diagnostics and Logging (ODL) is a feature of Oracle Fusion Middleware that enables administrators to keep a record of all Oracle Forms sessions, monitor Oracle Forms-related network traffic, and debug site configuration problems

This is useful If multiple databases share the same autobackup destination (as would be the case if several databases have a common flash recovery area). 2- RMAN backups: in this case you have three options: UNTIL TIME Recovery (before a specific time), UNTIL SEQUENCE recovery (before the one specified corrupted, missed archive log or redo log file), UNTIL SCN Recovery (before the one specified SCN or system change number)

In the first window run: python dcn.py This will print a message and wait without returning a prompt: Leave it running for the moment and continue with the next step. In a command line terminal run: python connect.py If the connection succeeds, the version number is printed: An exception is thrown if the connection fails

Oracle Net Listener Parameters (listener.ora)

Using COST Parameters in Combination COST parameters can also be used in combination to further control which transports accept service registration and control commands. Multiple listener configuration is possible because each of the top-level configuration parameters has a suffix of the listener name or is the listener name itself

In a future release, Oracle may restrict access to Automatic Storage Management only to operating system users that are members of the OSASM operating system group, and require the use of SYSASM to administer Automatic Storage Management

February 28, 2011, 2:38 pm Reply Ad Smeulders says Hi Shad, Downloaded your script some days ago and it runs like a charm on HP-UX 11.31 with oracle 11gR2.. I heard as a joke that the overall goal was to keep the DBAs busy and clear of risks of unemployment, but was it really a joke ? I would suggest a few modifications on the current version of the script though

listing files with the external table preprocessor in 11g

This means that it is possible to make the directory listing more dynamic by putting the paths to the directory or directories we wish to list inside the external table location file. Be aware, however, that if the application has access to any read-write directories, it is still possible for the external table's default directory to be altered and the less secure method used instead

generating and reading tkprof reports Now that we have our Oracle directories, we can connect as our user and create an external table to generate and read TKProf reports, as follows. Wherever possible, this technique should be avoided and all work performed on the server itself (although this isn't always possible in controlled environments)
