If MS had just put as much effort in to a good firewall as they did trying to convince people there OS was safe it actually would have been an easyer approach. sync - How do I synchronise two folders in real-time in Windows 7? - Super User
http://superuser.com/questions/65524/how-do-i-synchronise-two-folders-in-real-time-in-windows-7
With this you basically have that a local and remote version synchronized, you are working as if you were on the network but actually it manages to have it locally. I must say this is the theory because I got stuck since my network drives are managed by Novel and therefore I don't have the option of "Always Available Offline"
http://blogs.technet.com/b/netro/archive/2010/04/09/how-the-synchronization-in-windows-7-offline-files-works.aspx
If you want a file in the shared folder to be available on your computer when you are offline, you must manually select it to be made available offline. By default, network folders in the "slow-link" mode will be synchronized with the server every 360 minutes with the start of the sync varying between 0 and 60 additional minutes

If you use this Library method, keep each empty C: User folder in the Library so you can visually monitor if any files land there and simply drag them over to the Onedrive User folder. If you don't care or use Win7 backup imaging then this should work OK, although some have also reported unfixable permissioning errors trying to run installers from a moved Downloads folder

My network name has changed and while it shows up properly when connected via wireless, when I use the Lan connection it shows up under the old network name. However, I even found another easier how-to: To add a non-indexed UNC as a library to Windows 7 Beta: Hope it helps even better I found the UNC patch that is supposed to allow indexing to extend to UNC paths, installed it, and rebooted
windows 7 - Unwillingly syncing network folder during program write to file - Super User
http://superuser.com/questions/445935/unwillingly-syncing-network-folder-during-program-write-to-file
The above failures were happening exactly before a write to file process started (not before reads), the namespace folder did not get used, I had nothing synced, and the actual writes to the network drives were successful. While everything works fine when I give my program a local path, I am faced with an unusual problem: huge memory usage when I process files over the local area network
