So what I did was create an new image in Disk Utility and copied over the files of the mounted ISO into the new Disk Image -Using the new Disk Image I was able to do the Restore onto my USB drive. (Am using Mac OSX 10.6.7 to download my iso, configure USB stick, and then copy .iso to it) This worked for me - Insert 4GB USB Stick - Open Disk Utility, Click ERASE

I went to repair the faulty Mac HD and somehow got rid of that and merged in my OS X Now my OS X Base is the only partition and I cannot add partitions re-instal, delete or anything. before I clone I made sure my source HD was healthy by using Drive Genius which return a corrupted HD that it was not able to repair, so I had to use Disk Warrior to fix it then I went back to Drive Genius to verify and defragment. I am worried that the Maxtor hard drive is going to eventually cause me some issues, mainly because it is a company I do not know or trust since now it has been bought out by Sea Gate.My question is, will everything including all my installed programs to the new Western Digital hard drive? Or will I have to reinstall all the specialty programs ? The latter would be a pain, because I would have to locate the installation serial code keys

After all, the whole reason I found this thread is because I too assumed it would be more complicated (I switched from Mac to PC a few years back due to work requirements, and am only now switching back. Not the OS's on them but the fact that if you don't burn the DVD correctly all you get is the same disk image that you had on your hard drive but now it's burned into a DVD or CD and totally useless other than for pulling the .jpegs for wallpaper
