Stirling's aim is to formalize, and derive equilibrium conditions for, a notion of group preference that is, on the one hand, not a mere aggregation of individual preferences but also does not, on the other hand, simply assume the existence of a transcendent collective will that is imposed on individuals. Institutions and norms are rich with reminders, including homilies and easily remembered rules of thumb, to help people remember what they are doing (Clark 1997)

How RAM Works - HowStuffWorks

SAM works very well for memory buffers, where the data is normally stored in the order in which it will be used (a good example is the texture buffer memory on a video card). In the most common form of computer memory, dynamic random access memory (DRAM), a transistor and a capacitor are paired to create a memory cell, which represents a single bit of data

Tangent to a circle definition - Math Open Reference

intersect at two points, there are two tangents that are common to both: If the circles lie one inside the other, there are no tangents that are common to both. See Constructing tangents through a point on the circle for demonstration of how to draw the tangent through a point on the circle , using only a compass and straightedge

By taking the cross product of the vector a from P to Q and the vector b from Q to R, we obtain a vector which is orthogonal to each of the original vectors (and thus orthogonal to the plane)

Exercise: What is the equation of a line through (0,0) and a point (h,k)? Finding the equation of a line through 2 points in the plane For any two points P and Q, there is exactly one line PQ through the points. What is equation of the plane through the points I, J, K? Exercise: What is the equation of the plane through (1, 1, 1), (-1, 1, -1), and (1, -1, -1)? Exercise: Compare this method of finding the equation of a plane with the cross-product method

Dynamic constraints are meant for engineering and design purposes: they automatically (dynamically) scale to your current view, are often hidden, and do not plot. Starting with a top view of two intersecting tubes of different diameters, you generated the side view in 30 degree increments at a 110-degree intersection angle, which you then used to generate a flat pattern for fabrication, as you might do for sheet metal

These vectors aren't parallel so the planes do meet! Now, the vector or cross product of these two normal vectors gives a vector which is perpendicular to both of them and which is therefore parallel to the line of intersection of the two planes. In order to find the vector equation of the line of intersection, we also need to find the position vector from the origin of some point which lies on it

(Note: It doesn't matter which end of each segment you choose to be point A or B, or point C or D, just as long as points A and B represent one line, and points C and D represent the other.) Step 1. Thanks to linearity, the proportion of the large, vertical bracket to the smaller one must be exactly the same as the proportion of the large, horizontal bracket to the smaller one

How can I avoid losing any history lines? This method is designed to allow you to store a complete log of all commands executed by a friendly user; it is not meant for secure auditing of commands - see securing bash against history removal. mktemp exists more widely (but still not ubiquitously), but it may require a -c switch to create the file in advance; or it may create the file by default and barf if -c is supplied

python - How can you determine a point is between two other points on a line segment? - Stack Overflow

  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/328107/how-can-you-determine-a-point-is-between-two-other-points-on-a-line-segment
If the points are sufficiently distant that calculating the algorithm is non-performant (and it'd have to be really large for that to be the case) I'm sure you could dig around and find optimisations. But, as you want to know if c is between a and b, you also have to check that the dot product of (b-a) and (c-a) is positive and is less than the square of the distance between a and b
