Actually, the first two answers (x and y) are what I have been getting--for some reason, they are not considered correct by the program I am using to check the answers, although I am using the same input. However, the method in my textbook works for simpler problems -- I seem to be making a calculation error when I try to apply the method to this problem

I looked into the Barycentric method also but judging from the Wikipedia article I have a hard time seeing how it is more efficient (I'm guessing there is some deeper equivalence). Your solution also has the problem that it will report a different result for points exactly on the edges of the triangle depending on wether the triangle is specified in clockwise or counter clockwise order
