As with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (as well as Nolan's Inception), sets were built in one of the two huge airship hangars at Cardington in Bedfordshire, north of London. The struggle inside the turboprop plane was filmed at Cardington, as were the Bat-Bunker, the underground prison and the Gotham sewer base of Bane (Tom Hardy)

Hall, Hugh Laurie, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Franco, and Jamie Isaac Conde, were all rumored to play the Riddler before it was confirmed the character would not appear in the film. Cinematographer Wally Pfister has expressed interest in shooting the entirety of the film in the IMAX format, as both Pfister and Christopher Nolan have expressed distaste for shooting the film in 3-D

He then releases the inmates of Blackgate Prison to join his cause.Step 14: Bane effectively takes control of Gotham City, allowing kangaroo courts for loose ends (such as Stryver), the rich, decadent and corrupt. For example, in The Dark Knight, Batman located Maroni in a club and then located Harvey Dent who was secretly interrogating in a dark alley in the following scene

There are inconsistencies with the love story and the villains purpose in teh story, nonetheless Christopher Nolan as director saves the Batman franchise by making it very moving. The Dark KnightThe definitive Batman film with incredible direction, story and acting. This surpasses Batman Begins with the best portrayal of the Joker as the villain o the film played wonderfully by Heath Ledger which sadly had passed before the film's release

I also think that removing Alfred and therefore much of the humanity and humour from the equation was a mistake and I would have liked a little more ambiguity (a la Inception) as to the fate of the character. Plus I could also point out that the story is basically Rocky III crossed with Star Wars with yet another generic race against time tacked onto the end

I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me

Nolan is especially good at capturing the complete tension of actually not knowing what will happen and deeply questioning what you *want* to happen and why. This movie is bigger than the previous two, far more ambitious. Not because of the physicality of them, but because he was such a huge Batman fan growing up that he said "it felt like I was beating up my childhood hero"

A commentary or more sprawling production documentary would have been a terrific addition to it all, but Nolan and company have covered their bases and delivered an extensive glimpse into Nolan's craft, the development of the film and the intricacies of the third and final entry in the Dark Knight cycle. And the momentum and inventiveness I craved were out in full force, albeit so radical in comicbook nature that I nearly failed to notice the intricacies of Nolan's master plan
