Although I occasionally do not move the 50D switch far enough to enable the RCD when powering the camera on and am left wondering why the RCD is not working, I personally do not find the new arrangement to be an advantage or disadvantage. It looks great and even though it has the same display size as the other Canon 3" LCDs, its reduced border size claims less space as can be seen in the comparison below
Another problem is that the use of preflash can trigger studio slave flash units which work by detecting the light from the triggering camera - analogue optical slaves. The 480EG is also the most powerful flash unit that Canon made, even though its advertised guide number was only 48 and thus seemingly lower than flash units like the 540EZ or 550EX
While it does not have the Fluorine-coated low-pass filter, the T1i's sensor arrived clean out of the box (news-worthy) and has not needed a cleaning to this review date. All lens focusing sounds are very-audibly recorded by the internal mono mic (no input port is provided for an external mic, auto sound levels are used) as are the aperture changes made by the auto exposure feature (unless exposure is locked - using the ISO button as the "*" button is used for Video AF)

Other things you can do with EOS Utility include customizing the My Menu (more on that later) and uploading Picture Styles that you've created with the software described below. You can then tweak the tone curve, color settings, contrast, and sharpness, and then save a new Picture Style, which can be used both on the camera and in the Digital Photo Professional software
